This Privacy Policy explains how NihonScroll handles information when you use the NihonScroll mobile application and this website. NihonScroll is a Japanese-learning app with swipeable flashcards, illustrations, audio, advertising, and optional store purchases.

Information stored by NihonScroll

NihonScroll does not require an account. Study preferences, saved cards, deck position, progress, and onboarding choices are stored locally on your device in the app’s database. NihonScroll does not operate a user profile or cloud study-history service.

Removing the app or clearing its app data removes this locally stored information. If you contact support, we receive the information you choose to include in your message, such as your email address, device details, app version, and a description of the issue.

Advertising

NihonScroll uses Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) to show in-feed advertisements. AdMob and its partners may process device or app identifiers, approximate location, diagnostics, ad interaction information, and other information described in Google’s policies. Depending on your choices and applicable law, ads may be personalized or non-personalized.

When required, NihonScroll presents Google’s consent and privacy-choice controls. You can change available advertising choices from the app’s ad privacy settings. You can also learn more through Google’s partner-site policy.

Purchases

NihonScroll offers an optional one-time purchase to remove ads. Payment details are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play. NihonScroll receives purchase information needed to confirm entitlement, such as a product identifier and store receipt or purchase token.

For Google Play purchases, the purchase token is sent over HTTPS to NihonScroll’s verification function, which checks it with Google Play. The verification service uses a one-way hash for rate limiting and does not create a user account or log purchase tokens.

How information is used

• To provide flashcards, audio, illustrations, saved cards, and local study progress.
• To display and measure advertising through AdMob, subject to your consent and applicable settings.
• To verify an ad-removal purchase and restore access on the official store where it was made.
• To respond to support requests and improve reliability.

Sharing

NihonScroll does not sell your personal information. Information may be processed by service providers that are necessary to operate the app, including Google AdMob, Google Play, Apple’s App Store, Firebase/Google Cloud for purchase verification, and email providers used to answer support requests. These services process information under their own terms and privacy policies.

Retention and deletion

Local study data remains on your device until you clear the app’s data or uninstall NihonScroll. Support messages are retained only as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain records, or comply with legal obligations. To request deletion of information included in a support conversation, email support@nihonscroll.com.

Children

NihonScroll is a general-audience learning app. It does not knowingly request personal information from children. Parents or guardians who believe a child has provided personal information may contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app, advertising partners, or applicable requirements change. The “Last updated” date above identifies the current version.
